Using a pressure washer to clean things outside of your home can be a quick and convenient thing to do when a standard hose nozzle just doesn’t cut it. There clear differences in power between the gas and electric models, but the differences are more subtle differences between washers in their own classes. So depending on your particular cleaning needs choosing the right machine will greatly affect your cleaning experience.
WORX WG629 Cordless Hydroshot Portable Power Cleaner
Several very excited people told me about the Worx HydroShot 20V Max Portable Power Cleaner before I got in my hands for review. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t sure that a 320 PSI power washer really had any place in our shop or my home. But as it is with any tool we review, I’m going into it with an open mind and a variety of tasks to try it out on.
One of the nice things about… the marketing behind the Worx HydroShot is that they’re not trying to push it as a pressure washer or a replacement for one. So with the battery on the charger and a reasonable expectation what I can do with this tool, I got the kids ready to get some cleaning done.
There are several pieces in the package when you first open the box. You’ll find the battery and charger, 5-in-1 nozzle, extension lance, and the main motor/trigger assembly. You can directly attach the nozzle to the motor, making a short power washer. Alternatively, you can add the lance and get a unit that’s roughly 35-1/2 inches from front to back. There’s also a bucket hose and mesh storage bag.
Greenworks 1700 PSI 13 Amp 1.2 GPM Pressure Washer
In present days we mostly depend on electric products as it has become very easy to get the electricity supply. An electric pressure washer is more convenient and easy to use if you plan to use it for residential purpose.
The company GreenWorks has made… a wonderful electric pressure washer that actually completes most of the home stuffs cleaning problems. GreenWorks GPW1702 1700 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Power Washer is one of the best electric pressure washers available in the market based on its features and performances.
The device doesn’t need high power electricity so you can easily use the regular 120v electricity that you get at your home. You will get different nozzle tips for your different uses along with a pro-style spray gun. The price is also not very high so that you don’t have to worry about it.
Ivation Electric Pressure Washer 2200 PSI 1.8 GPM
Assembly of the Ivation IVA-9175L is explained with the use of pictures in a sticker on the side of the machine which I found very convenient. Basically, you need only to screw in all the essential attachments (hose, power cord, gun handle, and either of the two wand), plug it into an electrical outlet, press the reset button on the back bottom of the unit (the motor won’t start if you don’t), and just let loose. On attaching the hose to the gun handle, fit the hose into the hole in back of the gun and flip the switch under that hole and then the hose shall be securely attached. The hose by the way is a really sturdy piece of work.
Concerning the two wands,… the regular spray wand is for general cleaning but with the power of the turbo wand, you can write your own name on untreated wood. It’s a powerful enough machine to certainly do most of the cleaning required by your household but not much of anything else really. For example, It can’t clean the 2nd floor siding of your home or peel paint off of any surface. If you’re looking for more fire-power, a gasoline-powered pressure washer will probably be more suitable.
The self-suction feature came in really handy when I wanted to water the plants on the farthest side of the garden. Using a big bucket of water, the Ivation pumped the water from the bucket and power sprayed it into the plants without a hitch. The problem however is that the water has to be 1.5 meters or higher for the suction to work. So to properly use the self-suction feature, you’ll need to carry around a BIG drum of water.
Karcher K1700 Electric Power Pressure Washer
Karcher is a name that people have associated with quality pressure washers for many years. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise to anyone that the Karcher K1700 is also a favorite for many people.
This powerful cleaning machine… offers a full 1700 PSI thanks to its TruPressure technology. However, it only uses 1.2 GPM so that you do not have to worry about running up your water usage when you bring it out to deep clean the exterior areas of your home. To further ensure that you do not waste water, it has a convenient on/off switch that you can control with your feet.
It comes with three nozzles for you to use to get the cleaning power that you need. There is a turbo nozzle for extreme cleaning of stubborn areas, a 15 degree, all-purpose nozzle that works well with most standard cleaning projects, and a detergent nozzle for areas that need soap to get clean.
WEN PW31 3100 PSI Gas Pressure Washer, 208 cc
With rugged wheels that can move across grass and asphalt with ease on the bottom, a heavy-duty steel frame and bright orange accents, the WEN PW31 3100 PSI Gas Pressure Washer has the look of a commercial pressure washer but costs less than those machines do.
A 208cc engine has a gallon per minute… rating of 2.5 to cut down on how long it takes to clean things like your roof or driveway, and an axial cam pump ensures that the water comes out smoothly and quickly. This pump adds some extra power to the pressure washer while also extending the life of its motor.
Wen gives you five quick connect nozzles that attach to the wand easily, and each one is appropriate for different jobs. You’ll get zero, 15, 25 and 45 degree nozzles as well as a nozzle for using the pressure washer with detergent, which can help kill mold and plants growing on your roof as well as eliminate any mildew that you see. WEN gives you a two-year warranty that lets you get repairs or a replacement pressure washer after your purchase.

Karcher K5 Premium Electric Power Pressure Washer
The Karcher K5.540 is the top of the line electric pressure washer from its X-Series range that delivers exactly 2000 PSI at 1.4 GPM using a patented water cooled induction motor. Designed to outlast any other pressure washer, this machine packs in the power of induction motor with the ability to operate non-stop for longer periods.
Changing pressure settings… is as easy as switching between the two wands. One produces a fan shaped water flow with reduced pressure, the other provides a cone of high pressure water jet. Both wands have their use but I feel as if something is missing here. Having interchangeable nozzles usually helped me properly regulate the pressure output and the flow pattern but in the Karcher K5.540, tinkering with the nozzles does not seem to increase or decrease the pressure by much.
If you want a brand name that you can depend on then the Karcher K5.540 is perfect for you. Top of the line, X-series induction motor with water cooling and dual wand operation, on board detergent tank, long shelf life and easy operations, all make this an indispensable pressure washer to have around within the house.
