There are many cardio exercise machines on the market, but which can truly be called the best? While you may have a personal preference for a specific exercise style, the reality is that there are many row machine benefits that outweigh the pros of owning any other cardio machine. Rowing gives you a full body workout that burns more calories and reaches more muscle groups than any other type of exercise machine.
Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5515
This rower comes with plenty of levels and features for a comprehensive workout. It has 8 different levels and modes you can try out, allowing you to customize your regimen the way you want to, and to the level most suitable to your skills. It operates very smoothly and silently, making it great for indoor use and personal use.
The machine has a great, soft and sturdy seat that is mounted on a monorail that moves up and down very easily, removing additional, unnecessary strain on your lower back, avoiding, thus, potential injury. It also features large footpads with adjustable straps that fit all but the largest of feet. The handlebar is lined with an awesome anti-slip grip.
And finally, the machine has been outfitted with a great all-purpose LCD monitor. It is made to be easy to read, as all the numbers displayed are of substantial size. It displays all the vital information, like calories burned, distance, stroke count, and, if you wish to know, total stroke count across all sessions. All in all, this is a very well built machine that will serve you well and, hopefully, bring about a much desired change in your life.
Stamina ATS Air Rower
There is no k**b to turn or button to press to change resistance levels. The resistance level is determined by how hard you row. That is why this type of rower is categorized as variable resistance.
I wanted to emphasize this point because a few users claimed this rower isn’t adjustable and that statement is false based on what I mentioned. It’s probable that the few users who made the false statement were unaware of how an air-rower works.
Variable resistance is great for HIIT (high intensity interval training) and Crossfit style workouts. This is because you can speed up or slow down without stopping to change any settings and the resistance will adjust automatically to your speed.
Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine
The Stamina Trac Glider is a big seller on the internet – due mainly to its price. But beware, it does have its weaknesses. For some these will definitely be a deal-breaker, but for others it will be a low-cost way to stay in shape.
This doesn’t seem to be an issue for light users so It’s probably a problem with the gas/ oil mix in the piston. However, if you’re buying a rower to lose weight the resistance problem could prevent you working out long enough, and at the right work rate to start burning fat.
The seat is quite comfortable for a budget model and the action is fine for short workouts of fifteen minutes or less. If you’re planning on training for longer periods you may find this model less comfortable. It’s quite sturdy for a compact machine and also folds up for easy storage – something to consider if space is short.
Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5639 Full Motion
To begin with, the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5639 Full Motion rowing machine features a construction similar to the Stamina BodyTrac Glider 1060. But its frame is sunny sf-rw5639 – hydraulic rowercompletely made of steel, including the seat rail. But nonetheless,
The frame doesn’t have a folding design like most air or magnetic rowers, such as the LifeCore R100 or Marcy NS40503RW. However, it’s far from being as large as these machines. It’s only 51.5″ (131 cm) long, 24″ (61 cm) wide, and can be stored vertically, or even under the bed, as its highest point reaches only 14″ (36 cm) above floor level.
As we’ve mentioned above, the rail of the seat is steel-made like the rest of the frame, not made of aluminum as for other machines. It’s quite sturdy, though, the seat and the rail being able to support users up to 350 lbs (159 kg). The rail is not completely horizontal; it’s slightly higher at the rear, which means the machine provides a slightly better workout for the leg muscles, and the recovery part of the rowing motion is faster.
Stamina 1110 Magnetic Rowing Machine
So if you’re looking for an affordable rower to get fit, does this do the job? Of course you get what you pay for so you can’t expect much from a model costing under $200, but the Stamina 1110 has just about enough features to make it worth a look.
But… before you continue, because this is a compact machine I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re over 5′ 10″ and/ or already in good shape. The short beam just doesn’t allow for a full stroke and would limit the benefits. And if you’re fit and looking for a rower for use at home this wouldn’t deliver the sort of workout you need. If you fall into those two categories check out the ‘Also worth a look’ section below.
As mention earlier, this is possibly one of the lightest rowing machines we’ve reviewed on this site. While this may be a bonus if you’re slightly built, it’s definitely a big no-no if you’re the sturdy, solid type yourself. Because while the Stamina 1110 comes with good supports to protect your floor, if you’re over 190lbs you’re going to feel the machine straining to deal a high stroke rate beneath you.
XTERRA ERG200 Folding Magnetic Resistance Rower
We tried the ERG400 back in the summer of 2014 and found while it had some good features, the build quality wasn’t up to the task of a rigorous workout and a few weak components let it down – really badly in some cases.
If you’re still here and interested, we’ll move on to the assembly and rowing position. This is pretty straightforward to put together and should take only 30 minutes with little DIY skills required.
The resistance mechanism is magnetic which makes it a quiet rower to use when compared to an air model. It has 8 levels of resistance selected using the k**b in the central unit beneath the handle. At this price you can’t expect heart rate programs or even a monitor to display your pulse, so the resistance levels have to be manually selected.

And with the foam rowing deal with, cushioned, molded seat and 2 multi-purpose holders for your drinks, cell phone and other gadgets, you’ll desire to row for longer sessions merely since it’s hassle-free and comfy.

Marcy Foldable 8-Level Magnetic Resistance
The Marcy Foldable NS-40503RW is one rowing machine that rowing enthusiast would definitely love to have a ride in, but unfortunately, I won’t say the same for the name given to it. The name is so long and even difficult to mention, however, there is an adage that says; don’t bother about what is written on a vehicle and hop in for a ride.
This unit has got great features designed to help the user find comfort while working outMarcy Foldable NS-40503RW Rowing Machine Review- plus 8 level Magnetic Resistance and also to achieve his objectives quickly. The assembling is pretty much easy therefore there is nothing like facing difficulty from the first time the unit is delivered to the user’s doorstep.
